In 1977, Mahendra and Asha bought their first investment property — a run-down duplex on Norton Avenue in Fridley, Minnesota, for $95,000. Six months later they sold it for $115,000. They took the profits, leveraged their capital, and bought more properties. Same formula every time: find what others overlook, improve it, grow. The company was first called Torchwood Management. In 1985, it became Nath Companies.
