Succession and the Next Generation

2003: Mahendra is thinking carefully about succession. He and Asha have built a company that generates over $150 million in annual revenue, employs thousands of people, and spans four industries. At age 62, Mahendra says: "If I died, I don’t think anybody here would miss a beat. Three people could take over for me today." This week is about succession not as an exit, but as a philosophy — the belief that a great company is bigger than any one person.
