Mahendra Nath was born in Lahore, India, in 1940. Growing up, electricity in the home was unreliable — and when the power went out, Mahendra didn't stop studying. He walked to the park and worked by the lamp on the bench until the lights came back on. His mother and sister would bring his dinner there so he could keep studying without interruption.
